Calculation of dose distribution around a Cs-137 source from a Selectron LDR remote afterloading system
Abstract
The first remote afterloading system in the Philippines was installed at the Radiotherapy Department of the Jose R, Reyes Memorial Medical Center. The Selectron afterloading machine contains 18 Cs-137 pellet sources which can be arranged into various radioactive pellet and non-radiaactive spacer configurations. In this paper, a method of dose calculation for various source positions in the treatment of cancer of the cervix uteri is described.
