Verification of external beam teletherapy plans produced by CT-based planning computer
Abstract
The first CT-based treatment planning computer in the Philippines has been installed at the Radiotherapy Department of the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center. This development provides a new level of accuracy and precision in the field of radiation therapy in the country. The present work describes the procedure performed to investigate the accuracy of treatment plans made for external photon beam teletherapy. The study consists of two parts. The first part is designed to detect any programming error. The second part involves verification of dose calculations by actual measurement in a phantom.
