Comparison of conventional and confocal laser scanning microscope

Abstract

Image formation in conventional and confocal laser scanning microscooes is described. Also included is a comparative analysis using resolution, depth of focus, tolerance to noise, timing electronics, mechanical sophistication and detection schemes as figures of merit.
