Abstract

The construction of a portable, low-cost digital gaussmeter is described. The Hall voltage V, generated by a magnetic field transverse to an Indium Antimonide element, is amplified by a 741 op-amp and displayed using an analog to digital converter IC 7016. Range is from 10 G to 10 kG. The system is powered by three 9-volt batteries and a 5.2-volt Nickel Cadmium power pack or an external DC source for the current source.
