Dimensional reduction and fermion families
Abstract
We present here several examples of gauge theories in 6 dimensions for which families of Fermions are obtained in the process of dimensional reduction. It is not necessary to have an explicit horizontal group to relate families. In fact, theories with horizontal groups do not exhibit spontaneous breaking of the horizontal symmetry due to the dimensional Higgs fields.
