Theoretical and practical aspects of a homemade nitrogen laser
Abstract
A brief theoretical background on the laser transitions in nitrogen is first given. This is followed by a description of the features of a nitrogen laser which was constructed by the authors based on the Schenck-Metcalf design. Some discussion is made on the performance of this laser as a pump for a dye laser and further experiments are suggested.
