Preface
Abstract
The Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas held its 3rd National Congress in Angono, Rizal from June 1-3, 1984. Some fifty participants from as faraway
as Marbel, Cotabato partook in the presentation of and lively discussion concerning some 14 scientific papers. This represents a 40% increase over last year's papers, a happy sign. But even more than the increase in volume is the increase in content of these papers. As will be seen in this volume, the state of research physics in the Philippines as judged by these papers is beginning to take shape and find its form. The papers represent work in theoretical particles and fields, quantum electronics and plasma physics as well as geophysical research. I am happy to record such beginnings of research in physics in the country and hope that this volume will next year be at least 40% larger in both number and quality of papers.
