Continuous-time random walk model for a tracer in one dimensional ideal gas
Abstract
An exact expression for the time evolution of the velocity probability distribution of a tracer particle in one dimensional ideal gas was derived using the Continuous-time random walk (CTRW) formalism. We note an interesting feature of a hump (or inflection) in the continuous time evolution of the variance of tracer particle velocity.
