Statistical characterization of coupled Langevin equations in a tilted ratchet potential

Abstract

This paper presents two statistical features of a system of two Brownian particles, coupled linearly, in a tilted ratchet potential. The Langevin equations involved were solved using an extension of a previous method. One feature that was identified is the rapidly decaying mean relative displacement between the particles. Another is the nonzero steady-state mean velocity of their center of mass.
