Abstract

This study aims at investigating the effect of KCl on the stability of Bi-2212 colloidal suspensions and on the resulting films fabricated via electrophoretic deposition. Colloidal suspensions of 0.0033 g of Bi-2212 powder with 10 mL ethanol plus 2 drops (~0.05 mL) of KCl solution in varying concentrations were tested for their stability. The colloidal suspension with 5.21 wt% was found to be optimum. This and the standard colloidal suspension were used in fabrication of Bi-2212 films. The analysis of the films showed that using the optimum colloidal suspension in film fabrication results to better quality film. The film had smoother film surface, high c-axis orientation, and higher Tc-onset of 84.73 K.
