Abstract

The effect of thermal oxidation by annealing of Ti1Ë—xAlxN composition spread thin films were analyzed using image processing techniques in MATLAB. Changes in the samples were systematically examined by employing image processing techniques such as image differencing and white balancing. The image processing analysis effectively showed the changes in the film after heat treatment at different temperatures. The qualitative changes in the images were then correlated with the oxidation activity on the Ti1Ë—xAlxN film.
