Abstract

The effect of KCl addition and quenching temperature near the peritectic temperature on fabricating YBCO films via sedimentation method was studied. YBCO films on STO(100) substrate of varying amounts of KCl were quenched at different temperatures. From the XRD and SEM analysis, it was found that the films having 15wt.% KCl quenched at 1000oC produced a c-axis oriented YBCO film. Moreover, the addition of KCl was found to lower the processing temperature for YBCO without introducing other phases.
