Abstract

The (4,0) band of the A1Π–X1Σ+ system of carbon monoxide (12C16O) is investigated by vacuum ultraviolet Fourier transform (VUV FT) spectroscopy. Three configurations were employed in the VUV FT spectrometer to obtain the CO spectrum, namely; the free-jet configuration that generated jet-cooled spectrum, windowless-cell configuration that recorded room temperature static gas spectrum and hot spectrum obtained from the second configuration with additional heating elements. From these recorded spectra, 128 rotational lines were assigned to the A-X (4,0) using Pgopher software, and 7 extra lines from perturber states. The absolute accuracy obtained is 0.01-0.02.
