Preparation of caffeine-imprinted polymeric membrane for ion-selective electrodes
Abstract
A caffeine-imprinted polymer (MIP-Caff) was synthesized using RAFT polymerization. The formation of the caffeine-polymer complex was confirmed by ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. UV-Vis spectroscopy validated the complete removal of the caffeine from the polymer matrix. A polymeric membrane was prepared based on the synthesized MIP-Caff and the morphology of the membrane was analyzed using atomic force microscopy. The membrane was fabricated to an ion-selective electrode and potentiometric measurements were made. Fast response of the electrode system suggested the feasibility of the prepared membranes for potentiometric sensing of caffeine using ion-selective electrodes.
