Spectral analysis of oil price distribution in the Philippines

Abstract

The distributions of diesel and unleaded prices of different oil companies in the Philippines from March 3, 2005 to January 23, 2013 were investigated using time series analysis. These are also compared to the spectra of the Dubai crude price, diesel pump price, gasoline pump price and Forex rate by obtaining their spectra. It was found that the oil companies usually change both their diesel and unleaded prices on the same day and that diesel and unleaded prices are poorly correlated with the rest of the prices.
