A thermodynamic analog to electrical circuit networks

Abstract

We present a student lab experiment on thermal conductivity and draw relationships to concepts that are more familiarly associated with electrical circuits. By composite stacking of two different materials into series or parallel configurations, we demonstrate direct analogy with the electrical counterparts. By establishing common links between different phenomena, we focus the students’ attention to the consistency of the underlying physical arguments.
