Abstract

This paper presents the results of an assessment to noise exposure level (dBA) in different types of classrooms in the university (University of San Carlos). The areas covered include factors affecting the signal-to noise ratio (SNR) in classrooms and surveys of classroom. Discrepancies between the results of various studies are highlighted. The results showed that almost all
of the classrooms, where the experiment was conducted, have noise levels substantially different from the recommended value for the background or room noise level (35 dBA). The signal-to-noise ratio in learning spaces must be +15dBA, but lecture and laboratory rooms failed to apply.
