Rapidity distribution of a tracer particle in 1D Maxwell-Jüttner gas
Abstract
An approximation to the time evolution of the Fourier transform of the probability distribution of a tracer particle’s rapidity subject to collisions with the particles of a 1D gas as described by the Maxwell-Jüttner distribution was obtained. It was shown that if the mass of the tracer particle mT is slightly different from the mass of the gas particle (here set to unity, or set as the unit for all other mass quantities) by ε , the probability distribution of the tracer particle’s rapidity have cummulants similar to that of Maxwell-Jüttner but multiplied by a set factors {g2n(ε)} in the long time limit.
