Optical-platform biosensor based on porous silicon for human plasma and red blood detection
Abstract
Optical-Platform Biosensor based on porous silicon was fabricated via electrochemical etching of unpolished p-type crystalline silicon (100) in a 24% ethanoic Hydrofluoric acid solution. Different porosities were prepared under varying anodization current of 10mA, 20mA and 40mA, and tested for human plasma and red blood sensing application. Formation of porous layer was validated under XRD and SEM. Its viability as an optical device was tested by means of reflectance spectroscopy with incidence angle of 450 at room temperature. Through analyzing optical response after introduction of biomolecules, it was found out that optimized Porous silicon was capable of encapsulating red blood and plasma. The induced shift in refractive index was observed to be nPSi < nplasma:nred blood<nsilicon. The optical results obtained can provide standard optical signal, essential for diagnostic application.
