Partonic differential cross section of muon pair hadroproduction in the Standard Model
Abstract
The partonic differential cross section of a muon pair hadroproduction was calculated using Feynman rules in the Standard Model. The production resulted from the collision of two hadrons (e.g. proton-proton). In calculating the muon pair hadroproduction differential cross section, we retained only two tree-level Feynman Diagrams: one with the virtual photon and the other with the virtual neutral Z0 boson. The calculated analytical expression was subjected into the high energy limit and expressed in Mandelstam variables, then compared to the differential cross section of the Drell-Yan process (pair production through photon) to observe the effect of the additional term contributed by the Z0 boson.
