Analysis of laser crystals through transmission and fluorescence spectroscopy with LEDs, laser diodes and lamps as excitation sources
Abstract
Transmission and fluorescence measurements of ruby,Ti:Sapphire, Nd:YAG and Er:YAG laser crystals were made using readily available light sources such as LEDs, laser diodes and household lamps. These excitation sources span the range of UV to near-IR region, 356-960 nm. From these measurements, we determined the absorption spectra and fluorescence decay lifetime of the laser crystals. Absorption and fluorescence spectra obtained compare favorably with reported values.
