Abstract

Ball chains of different lengths and tied into trefoil knots were unknotted using a vibrating platform with frequencies of 11, 13, and 15 Hz. A scaling exponent of 2.6 was obtained from the ball chains, which can be attributed to the larger ball chain dimensions, and errors in measurements increased with longer chain lengths. However, the measured survival rates were found to be consistent with the Ben-Naim model, despite the difference in bead dimensions and multiple frequencies used in the driving forces for the unknotting process.
