Weight distribution and modularity of the co-authorship network of the 8th -14th Philippine Congresses
Abstract
Weighted co-authorship networks were constructed from legislation produced during the eighth (8th) to the 14th Congresses of the Philippines. The edges of these co-authorship networks were weighted based on the number of bills co-authored by the representatives acting as nodes. The edge weight distributions of the 13th-14th congresses have negative kurtosis unlike the eighth to the 12th Congresses. The 8th, 13th, and 14th Congresses’ edge weight distributions were skewed to the left while the other Congresses’ distributions were skewed to the right. The 8th Congress had community modularity an order of magnitude smaller than other Congresses possibly indicating low partisanship.
