Phase structure localization using standard deviation contrast and phase retrieval

Abstract

Localization of phase-type specimens using standard deviation contrast algorithm and retrieved phase maps is demonstrated experimentally. Structures that are obscured in the retrieved phase and amplitude maps are revealed by the algorithm. Performance of the algorithm under the influences of aberrations is investigated. Results show that the algorithm is fairly robust when subjected to low-frequency aberrations.
