Piecewise linear emulator of the Lane-Emden equation

Abstract

Approximate solutions to the Lane-Emden equation for polytropes are obtained by using a piecewise linear emulator. The validity of the approximation was also examined. The zeros of the solution were then compared to the theoretical zeros as presented by Chandrasekhar. Moreover, deviation from the expected value increases with increasing n.
