One-dimensional zinc oxide nanostructures synthesized using direct current oxidation
Abstract
One-dimensional ZnO nanostructures were synthesized using direct current (DC) oxidation of zinc metal at an applied current of 3A and 4A for a current density of 10.00 A/mm2 and 13.33 A/mm2 respectively. The synthesis was done at ambient conditions. X-ray diffraction shows that the crystals are oriented in the ZnO (101) growth direction. Raman and photoluminescence (PL) spectra show that the ZnO nanowires have oxygen ion vacancies or oxygen interstitials. Its PL spectra also show that the wires have a broad green emission.
