Abstract

The effect of introducing iron (Fe) in the lead (Pb) site of BaPbO3 were determined using bulk samples of BaPb1-yFeyO3 with y = 0.00, 0.10, 0.20 and 0.30 produced using solid state method. The crystal structure remains orthorhombic until y = 0.30 with the presence of high – stoichiometry Pb – Fe – O compounds. The average grain size shrinks as y is increased. Calculated structural factors indicate the compensation of the oxygen octahedra stability to the changes in the lattice parameter causing the crystal to remain orthorhombic up to y = 0.30.
