Abstract

We report on an investigation, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, of a novel 3x3 cross-coupled single waveguide double ring resonator using scattering matrix formalism. This study incorporates both a 3x3 coupler and a cross-coupling directional coupler (DC). We compare the intensity responses of the novel configuration with the standard 3x3 Single Waveguide Double Ring Resonator (3x3-DRR), deriving both of their complex electric field and intensity expressions. The intensity behaviors provide initial insights into the impact of these configurations. This research pioneers the understanding of 3x3 Single Waveguide Double Ring Resonators, particularly the novel 3x3XC-DRR, setting a foundation for future designs and research in this field.
