Abstract

We demonstrate the conversion of an imaging microscope into one with higher resolution using Fourier Ptychography Microscopy (FPM). A stereomicrosope is used for this experiment, and in one of its eyepieces, a mobile phone camera is positioned. A 7×7 red LED array controlled by an Arduino microcontroller is used as the shifting light source. The FPM algorithm was implemented using MATLAB. With the modulation transfer function (MTF) of slanted edge images serving as the reference for comparison, the reconstructed amplitude from FPM exhibited an improved MTF when compared to the center image, indicating that the resolution has increased.
