Study of three-body decay using Dalitz plot
Abstract
Dalitz plot is a useful tool to analyze the kinematics of a three-body decay. It is a 2D plot representing the phase space of the reaction with respect to the invariant mass or kinetic energy. As a preliminary step to the study of three-body decay, we created a program that constructs a Dalitz plot of a certain three-body decay and described the plot based on the masses of the particles. Results show that the shape, position, and size of the plot are dependent on the masses of both the parent particle and final states. The present tool will be used to reproduce experimental data with resonances and kinematical enhancements that include the relevant phase space.
