Germination and seedling development of commercially available mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) seeds under hypergravity
Abstract
We investigate the effects of hypergravity exposure to commercially available kintab variety of mung bean seeds (Vigna radiata L.). We exposed 18 seeds to 500 × earth gravity for 30 min, while 21 seeds were maintained at earth gravity (control). We observe general improvements (p < 0.05) in plant growth as compared to the control set. After 60 hr, the difference between both the control and experimental groups is no longer significant. This serves as a preliminary study on the effects of hypergravity on mung bean seeds. Recommendations for future work are presented.
