International Centre of Physics − Promoting international scientific collaboration and research in physics
Abstract
The International Centre of Physics (ICP) is a category II centre under the auspieces of UNESCO and is part of the Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Since its establishment in 2018, the ICP has been working to fulfill its main objectives to promote international scientific collaboration, especially in the Southeast Asia region and to advance research and training in physics at the international standards. In this presentation I outline the current activities of the ICP in scientific collaboration through supporting exchanges of students and scientists, scientific meetings with emphasis on the programs of UNESCO; capacity building, especially in supporting the establishment of key research groups. I will give a brief overview of the main scientific achievements of the ICP over the last few years in theoretical and condensed matter physics, optics and spectroscopy, photonics, nanotechnology, and others. Future directions and opportunities in enhancing the scientific collaboration with our partners in the region will also be discussed.
