Abstract

I first learned about Feynman path integrals when I did my graduate studies in the University of the Philippines Diliman. Little did I know then that it was the start of a worthwhile journey in exploring all possible paths beyond Feynman's "sum-over-paths.'' In this talk, I will share a brief narrative of the paths I treaded as a physicist that led to a lifelong collaboration with Professors Chris and Marivic Bernido in pursuing a more progressive scientific community in the country.

About the Speaker

Jinky Bornales, Department of Physics, Mindanao State University − Iligan Institute of Technology

Jinky Bornales advanced in the echelon of administrative positions in the Mindanao State University -- Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU--IIT) from Chair of the Department of Physics, Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics, and Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension in a span of seven years. These positions enabled her to implement various projects on research, extension and innovation and proposed institutional policies which greatly facilitate and put in place mechanisms that pave the pathways for making MSU-IIT a research university. She has been instrumental in the increase of MSU-IIT's publication outputs to more than 500% from 2005 to 2020 which largely contributed to the performance of MSU-IIT in the QS Asian Ranking and Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index.
Dr. Bornales is a theoretical physicist who has made significant contributions to the physics of polymers making her the recipient of the 2020 National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Achievement Award in Physics.
