Abstract

We present, for the first time to the best our knowledge, the phase response of a novel Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs)-based multifunctional, tunable, band-limited optical criss-crossed coupled-ring reflector (X-CRR) that was recently reported. This device has three unique features namely: (i) asymmetric stopband/passband, (ii) dual narrow band filter behavior, and (iii) unique quasi-interleaver characteristic. We derived and investigated the behaviors of the phase responses for each of these three unique features. They are important to fully characterize the X-CRR device.
