How to make Physics less intimidating?

Abstract

In this talk, we will explore the reasons behind why most Filipino learners find Physics intimidating. Then, we will consider some ways we—as researchers and educators—can make it less so. Finally, we will discuss why doing this will ultimately benefit the Physics community.

Reinabelle Reyes is an Associate Professor at the National Institute of Physics (NIP) in UP Diliman. She heads the NIP Data and Computation Research Group which focuses on data-driven astronomy and computational physics topics. As a science communicator, she is founder and co-moderator of PinoyScientists.com, host of "Science Says" on the Knowledge Channel, and co-host of Radyo Turo Guro Science on DZRJ AM.
