Superposition of two Airy beams with different accelerations
Abstract
Airy beams are self-accelerating beams with a parabolic trajectory. In this study, we investigate the properties of two Airy beams propagating simultaneously and their behaviour when an added acceleration constant is changed. We do this by analyzing the spatial profiles of the superposition of two Airy beams with different acceleration constants and measuring their deflection distance. We observed that increasing the acceleration constant resulted in a beam that deflected in a more severe manner. We also observed that the two Airy beams with different acceleration constants propagate along different paths with minimal interference effects. This study is significant in the fields of optical trapping and micromanipulation, where control of these beams is vital.
