Steady-state behavior for pairwise domino collisions
Abstract
Many papers have been published trying to determine the speed at which dominoes fall. One particular paper modeled domino collisions to be done in pairs using dominoes that were composed of point mass atop a massless rod. In this paper, we modified this model to account for physical dimension of domino, and determined the steady-state behavior of toppling. In the end, we found that angular speed of dominoes are asymptotic and dependent on one variable which, in turn, is dependent on spacing between dominoes, dimensions of each domino, and their masses, and investigate on how this asymptotic angular velocity is dependent on the separation between dominoes and ratio of masses between consecutive dominoes.
