Surface morphology and composition of CeO2 deposits on Haynes 230 substrates
Abstract
We deposited CeO2 on Haynes 230 substrates via sedimentation deposition. XRD analysis shows that post-heat treatment, the deposits remain CeO2 with no impurity peaks detected. SEM images show granular and porous heat treated deposits. CeO2 grains were seen to coarsen and densify as the heat treatment temperature was increased from 1100°C to 1200°C while retaining a 30 minute soak time. Haynes 230 was shown to have an influence on the sintering behavior of CeO2 grains when heat treated deposits using 1 mg/mL and 0.5 mg/mL suspensions were compared.
