Abstract

The discharge characteristics of a DC glow discharge with Plexiglas tube as discharge collimator were investigated by evaluating the glow discharge shapes, current-voltage plots, current-pressure plots, and Paschen curve at different pressure regimes and applied voltages. Results show that the glow discharge shape, luminosity, and current vary at different pressure regimes and magnitude of applied potential differences. Characterization of the discharge behavior under the influence of a collimator at different pressures and voltages becomes increasingly important for future works on the plasma treatment of polymer surfaces.
