Reconstruction of a surface from the estimation of cylindrical light source illumination direction
Abstract
Photometric stereo was applied to obtain the surface information of an object from four successive images with varying incident illumination but with constant viewing direction. The direction of illumination of the cylindrical light source was calculated using the shadow information in the four images. Frankot-Chellapa algorithm was implemented for the surface reconstruction of the object of interest. Reconstructions with different sizes of image section were shown to have an effect on the global flatness of the surface.
