Development of cost effective confocal micro-Raman system
Abstract
A cost effective fiber-coupled confocal micro Raman system is developed using commercially available rigid optomechanical components and programmable third party instruments. A dichroic Raman beamsplitter/long-pass filter design was used. The performance of the system is compared to that of an equivalent commercially available setup by comparing instrument response on Silicon Raman signal. Results indicate that the system outperforms the commercial instrument by 16% in terms of collection efficiency. Despite of the relative low cost of the system the performance is at par with its more expensive counterpart.
