Abstract

This paper aims to report the correlation of the monthly rainfall rate measurements from the TRMM 3B43 Version 6 data set and the monthly rainfall rate measurements from rain gauges in the National Capital Region, Camarines Sur and Zambales. Also, this paper aims to determine the temporal behaviour of the monthly rainfall rate over the years 2008 and 2009 as measured by the TRMM 3B43 Version 6 dataset and the selected rain gauges. For the weather station in NCR, the Manila Observatory, the correlation coefficient is 0.73. For the weather station in Camarines Sur, the correlation coefficient is 0.33. For the weather station in Zambales, the correlation coefficient is 0.912. Both Manila Observatory and the station from Zambales exhibited a peak in precipitation on September 2009 and also exhibited an increase in precipitation from August till December.
