Abstract

Vegetation and vegetation changes can affect local temperature and rainfall significantly. But the local climate is also influenced by temperature and moisture that is advected into the region. Here we study the relative impacts of local land degradation and advection. Our results show regions in the world that are more vulnerable to the impacts of deforestation and land degradation. These include most of the tropical regions, which are influenced more by the local changes in land than advection.
