Abstract

Properties of the AC Susceptometer using a Hartshorn-type mutual inductance bridge were analyzed. The non-linear dependence on frequency of the output voltage across the secondary coil and the crest factor of the multimeter used in the set-up were found to take effect on the susceptibility behavior of different superconducting sample. Those properties were neglected before and instead the features observed in the susceptibility were attributed to the sample itself. This paper offers an explanation and more proper analysis on those features observed by considering the properties inherent in the MIB used and in the susceptometer set-up.
