Abstract

Normal and lichen sclerosus (LS) vulvar tissues were measured in vitro using Raman spectroscopy. Cluster averages and false-color Raman maps were generated using principal component analysis (PCA) and k-means cluster analysis. The Raman spectra show consistent differences between lichen sclerosus (LS) lesions and normal vulvar epithelium. These differences are attributed to biochemical changes in the tissue, which could be possible indicators of lichen sclerosus.
