Abstract

MnO2-PVP composites of various compositions were synthesized by solid-state mechanical method and sintered at different dwelling times. The dielectric constant (εr) of the sample increases upon the addition of the polymer, reached an optimum value at 10% by volume PVP. The composite sintered for 1 hour dwelling time yielded the highest dielectric constant having a value of 77.31 at 25°C at 10 kHz. The increase in the value of εr is explained by the dipole orientation polarization mechanism due to addition of PVP.
