Abstract

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) sheet surfaces have insufficient adhesive strength that is critical in applications involving metal to polymer materials bonding especially used in manufacturing packages for microelectronic devices.
This study investigates the effects of Oxygen and Hydrogen Glow Discharge Plasma Treatment of HDPE on its mechanical adhesion and molecular adhesion properties with discussions on surface morphology and surface chemistry in a copper–HDPE Sheet bonding experiment.
