Thermal mapping of a lecture room at armchair level
Abstract
Temporal thermal environment of a lecture room is investigated using commercial alcohol-in-glass thermometers. Thermal maps of a 4-level tiered semi-circular classroom are constructed whose indoor temperature (T) is induced by two air conditioners (A/C) situated at the back of the room on opposite corners. Three A/C temperatures are taken at armchair level, TA/C = 20, 22 and 25 °C, at morning classes of 8:30-10:00 or 10:00-11:30, at 15 minute intervals. Readings were done between sunny and dry days of January and March 2007. The thermal maps reveal the influence of occupancy and location on temperature.
