Correlation of black carbon content and light reflectance from Teflon filters using digital imagery
Abstract
Black carbon concentration (BC) is determined by analyzing the difference of the reflected light intensity from Teflon filters with and without PM 2.5 deposits. Pixel analysis reveals that a good correlation exists between BC concentrations and the disparity of pixel values in grayscale mode with respect to a reference filter. Results show that this technique can be used to predict fairly accurately the BC content of various filters with still unknown BC values.
