Abstract

This study aims to investigate the change in water contact angle, roughness measurements, surface energy and polar functional groups present on the HDPE sheet samples before and after the Hydrogen Glow Discharge Plasma (HGDP) treatment and Oxygen Glow Discharge Plasma (OGDP) treatment. Results indicated that an increase in the plasma exposure time showed a detection of the presence of –C≡C-H: C-H bonds present on the surface of the hydrogen treated samples and C-O present on the surface of the oxygen treated samples. Formation of micro-cavities on the surface is also observed at OGDP treatment.
